How music can help boost cognition in cancer patients and COVID-19 survivors
In a first-of-its-kind study, University of 91ÊÓƵ researchers are finding that music can help boost cognition in patients undergoing chemotherapy. In partnership with Moffitt Cancer Center, Jennifer Bugos, 91ÊÓƵprofessor of music education, and breast surgical oncologist Dr. Melissa Mallory, have been examining the effects of private and group piano lessons on cognition and everyday functioning in patients.

With Tampa on track for record-breaking heat this summer, University of 91ÊÓƵ researchers are collaborating with the city of Tampa to implement strategies that can help protect the city and its residents. The project, Bridging Knowledge to Action, will direct the city’s efforts to enhance resilience through new initiatives, including planting more trees and establishing dedicated spaces for individuals to cool down.
